Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why are we being asked to provide processing emissions data?
As one of our valued customers, your processing steps play an important role in the total climate footprint of Stora Enso’s products. By sharing your emissions data, you help build a more accurate picture of downstream impacts and strengthen collective efforts to reduce emissions across the value chain. Your contribution supports joint sustainability goals and improves transparency for both your customers and ours.

2. What emissions fall under Scope 3.10 (Processing of Sold Products)?
Scope 3.10 covers emissions generated when you process or transform the Stora Enso materials you purchase — for example, converting, forming, or manufacturing steps in your production. These emissions typically arise from electricity, heat, fuels, or direct process-related activities during use of our materials.

3. What information do we need to submit?
Through this portal, you are asked to provide data related to emissions generated when processing our materials, including methods used if to calculate your values. Each form clearly specifies the required inputs.

4. How will Stora Enso use the data we provide?
The data supports understanding of the climate impact of products beyond Stora Enso’s own operations. It is used to calculate a more complete value-chain footprint, identify emission reduction opportunities, strengthen sustainability reporting, and meet transparency expectations from markets and stakeholders. Information is handled securely and used only for these defined purposes unless otherwise agreed.

5. Is our data kept confidential?
Yes. Data is stored securely and is not shared externally in a way that identifies your company. Reporting that includes your information is aggregated or anonymized unless explicitly agreed otherwise.

6. Can we provide estimated or modelled emissions instead of measured values?
Yes. Estimated or modelled values are acceptable when measured data is unavailable. Please include the assumptions when sharing your data to keep the methodology transparent.

7. Who can we contact if we have questions about the methodology or the portal?

For support with calculations, methodology, or portal navigation, please contact the sustainability team at SDH.sustainability.data@storaenso.com.
